Greenhouse restaurant - Leigh on Sea
I was recommended by a friend to the new owners of the restaurant as an artist that would be able to interpret their idea of theme for the restaurant.
Being adjacent to the golf course and with its related history there was an obvious theme which might challenge the casual viewer.
Six paintings were asked for, one of the original club house (now the restaurant), two are abstract aerial landscape paintings from the parkland, and a triptych depicting a familiar view of the putting green being played from the surrounding woodland.
My clients trusted me to develop ideas for the paintings, which sounds ideal but left me vulnerable if they still did not connect with them.
I remember being very nervous the day I presented the finished canvases to them, having spent alot of time and money to complete them, but they were delighted and I have had positive feedback from a few people since they were hung.
